16/02/20 to 22/02/20
On annual leave Monday 17/02/2020.
More ATLAS UC updates received & processed.
One customer was an existing ctr claimant but had only just gone onto UC. We hadn't updated her wages for over a year. The UCAIF wage amount was double the amount we had on our Northgate system. Checked wages via WURTI ( HMRC records) and updated claimant's wages from Nov 2019 and again from Jan 2020 ( the UCAIF figure). Entitlement ended so sent standard letter advising.
Made a decision to continue to pay hb direct to a landlord who stated to us that his tenant was in rent arrears. We had decided to pay the landlord directly back in Jan 2019 and we were reviewing this decision after 12 months. I decided to keep paying L/L direct & wrote to both parties to inform them. Claimant has right of appeal.
UCTERM info for one claim received advising UC ended 22jan but then we received new UC claim award info from 7jan. Checked CIS system & UC award is continuous.
Ended a ctr claim for a customer who still owned her previous property. We had awarded ctr for the address she moved to in August 2019. We decided to disregard the value of her previous address as it was up for sale & about to be sold. Usually we disregard the property's value for 6 months with the discretion to extend this. We set a diary entry for December 2019 to check the sale had gone through.
I received the diary entry document in December. I realised that we had awarded a 6 month backdate of ctr to Feb 2019 so effectively the 6 month period of disregarding the property value was immediately over at the point we processed the claim. Colleague hadn't realised this or had failed to notepad that had realised this. Nor had we asked for any proof that property was actually up for sale. Rang claimant who confirmed sale that was imminent back in August had fallen through. Had changed estate agents also. Confirmed new agents details & checked their website. Claimant advised that she had dropped the sale price twice in order to get a sale & another offer had been received. I decided to exercise our discretion & continue to disregard the value of the property although it was now nearly 12 months since the start of her ctr entitlement. When I rang again this week she advised that the property was now sold. I ended her ctr claim & passed the info to Council Tax so that they can issue a finalised bill for the old address as her liability for council tax ends when her ownership ends.
Good summary of the cases you have worked on. Try to summarise the case rather than fully explain them as this will save you time and much of the above is what you want to cover in your evidence rather than blog.
ReplyDeleteOverall, sounds like a busy week. Well done
