22/03/20 to 28/03/20 Now working from home full-time as of 24th March. Drew a line under one I had been keeping an eye on for approx. 2 months. A claimant who is a single mum provided a birth cert for a new baby showing the father's address as being a property where the ctaxpayer (his mum) had spd. I asked colleagues in billing to query the spd & if he wasn't at this mum's to check if he was living with his girlfriend. Billing ended the spd. The mum then applied for CTR & confirmed there was another adult living in the household. She then said he had moved out to his dad's but didn't know the address. She confirmed that he hadn't moved in with my claimant and his child. That was the end of the matter. He might have moved in with his partner & child but there is not enough evidence for a fraud referral. Put ctr into payment for several claims received last month where the UC award info has now come through via ATLAS. One paid ctr only up until ...
15/03/20 to 21/03/20 I checked for current private pension monthly entitlement for several claims that cropped up last week where the claimants had reached state pension age. Some didn't have any private pensions. For some the pensions had not uprated at all. Others required the pension amount on Northgate to be increased. Updated wages for one claim following a routine VEP task. She appeared to have a high wage every 5-6 months. The wage details we were using to calculate her entitlement were based on the average of one normal wage and one high wage. I took a better, fairer average & updated our records. Registered several new ctr claims recvd via customers claim for UC. Awaiting UC award info before can calculate entitlement. Managed to resolve a query that had been ongoing since January. I had recvd a ctr claim via UC for Person A with Person B named as a non-dep. I wrote to ask for non-dep details but never recvd a response. This week I recvd a ctr claim via UC for...
08/03/20 to 14/03/20 A claimant sent in bank statements in support of a claim that I had already put into payment. There were 4 pages of statements but her wages and her private pension didn't appear as transactions & there was a credit transfer from a linked account. I rang her & went through the statements. There was only one bank statement that she had uploaded twice. The statement covered the period 2/1/20 to 20/1/20 only. Her private pension is paid on the 1st of them month & her wages are paid at the end of the month. The credit transfer was due to the closure of a savings a/c. She confirmed she had only this one account. I accepted the explanation & notebooked it. Updated ctr entitlement for several claims following new UC award info received via ATLAS. Unfortunately we printed the annual 2020/2021 council tax bills at the weekend so these customers will be receiving an incorrect bill to begin with as their ctr entitlement has now changed. Most of the ch...
01/03/20 to 07/03/20 I had annual leave on 02/03/2020. Put 4 new HB claims into payment this week for claimant's in supported accommodation. Updated wages for a partner on a claim due to info received from HMRC via a VEP task. The average wage is now much lower but the change had no effect as their income was already below their Applicable Amount. I was able to process several CTR claims that I had registered the previous month now that UC award info was received. I sent out standard non-qualifier letter to those that had no entitlement to CTR. I also had a couple of notifications regarding new UC claims that had been terminated. I had registered the new CTR claim last month so now issued the claimants FI ltrs asking about income & capital & household composition. Finally finished updating a claim I first came across in December. The claimant had been interviewed under caution by the DWP as he had failed to declare a private pension which he started to receive ...
