22/03/20 to 28/03/20

Now working from home full-time as of 24th March.

Drew a line under one I had been keeping an eye on for approx. 2 months. A claimant who is a single mum provided a birth cert for a new baby showing the father's address as being a property where the ctaxpayer (his mum) had spd. I asked colleagues in billing to query the spd & if he wasn't at this mum's to check if he was living with his girlfriend. Billing ended the spd. The mum then applied for CTR & confirmed there was another adult living in the household. She then said he had moved out to his dad's but didn't know the address. She confirmed that he hadn't moved in with my claimant and his child. That was the end of the matter. He might have moved in with his partner & child but there is not enough evidence for a fraud referral.

Put ctr into payment for several claims received last month where the UC award info has now come through via ATLAS. One paid ctr only up until 4/3/20. This was because he has moved out of the claim address back to his parents. The electronic change of address form stated that his dad is his new landlord. I need to keep an eye on it to check that there are no housing costs included in his UC award as housing costs are not paid if you rent off a close relative who is also resident in the property.

3 or 4 Risk Based Review forms that I had posted out a couple of weeks back were returned. These were for claimants who had reached state pension age so a full review is needed to check for capital and any private pensions. None of them had any private pensions or significant capital.

Had to write out for a second time to a couple of claimants who are Persons From Abroad and whose Residence Permits had expired (or never been seen by us in the first place).

Updated UC award info for several claims. New award info received via ATLAS notification. Some continued to be non-qualifiers. A couple were non-qualifiers but now have some entitlement.

A new ctr claim (via UC) came in for a claimant who we'd already recvd a ctr claim (via UC) from some weeks ago. This was followed by a UC termination notice. I wrote out to ask for his income details to see if could still award ctr. He hasn't replied but must have claimed UC again. Can award ctr from date of 2nd claim & write again for income details for the past period.

Processed a new ctr claim for a couple who have declared over £8k in capital on their claim form. This rules them out of being eligible for ctr. Standard letter sent to advise them. Did not write out for proof of income or savings & relied solely on the info on the claim form.

Wage info recvd via a VEP task. The customer does not have an active claim however. No action required but did alert Council Tax to his employment so they can consider an Attachment of Earnings for his ctax debts.

  1. Homeworking seems to be the new norm for the majority whilst COVID-19 is around!

Good summary of your work, however, please see my comments on the last blog.

    Thanks
